Floor Performance is like it sounds, performing on the floor. This is often the elusive element, or the forgotten element rather. A rookie's mistake would see the complete neglect of this element in their 10s performance. I gather that this is the case due to the element not having any particular form like the rest. Floor Performance is truly freestyle in most voguers' approaches. Leg spins and windmill kicks. Taps with the foot or hand performance on your knees. Floor Performance as an element allows for the most freedom in a voguer's performance. It also allows for voguer's to breathe and recentre themselves in-between a 10s performance or at the end of a combo.
This element requires a level of flexibility that I just don't have, or at least, not yet. There is some beautiful leg work that goes into floor performance and one day hopefully I can do that. Until then, you'll just have to put up with my sloppy attempts at a floor performance. For as physically demanding a duckwalk is nothing made me feel more winded than my attempts to keep my legs elevated enough to perform a combo. I feel like if I were to pick a more classical style of dance like ballet, I'd be capable to do all these. I'll just keep doing what I can 'til then.
This post is a lot shorter than the rest. This is because floor performance is so freestyle, I don't know how to be critical without sounding really harsh. If anything I can note, it's my flexibility and nimbleness around adjusting and balancing my weight. I also need to work on my creativity and being more inventive with my combos. This is quite an oozy element too and in the hands of a trained voguer, floor performance looks like water. That fluidity is something I'd like to capture someday.
